Have your mushroom growing questions answered for free in Zimbabwe

25 Mar

For those on twitter this is not news. Having said that please note that this is no substitute for consultancy and/or training.

I would like commend anythingmushroom for commitment to the mushroom industry, questions can also be asked via whatsapp +263772888752 no text messages will be replied to.

Mushtella has also committed to the same, +263773842677.

This is commendable in Zimbabwe as mushroom growing information is scarce. Feel free to contact them and ask questions and be sure to give us feedback.

Some time to laugh as a mushroom expert

20 Mar

A lady calls me, she wants to buy button mushroom spawn. We agree on price and collection times. As usual I want to know more about the client: where they are, their system and all. Than I smelt a rat and asked the client to call me as a matter of urgency and she did and here is what she wanted to do.

1. Buy well decomposed compost And she says it must be 5 years old, she had made an order for it (I wonder who had 5 years old compost)

2. She had access to some sawdust if the compost wasn’t enough.

At this point I was laughing hysterically and tears were flowing (tears of laughter)

Where did you get all this????? I asked.

1. She had seen my whatsapp profile for the shelves.

2. Internet

To do all this she was going to use a bank loan. All I said was I saved you.

New growers need take time research, get trained and/or be assisted by a good consultant. This lady was blank and rushing to make money. I hope this makes you laugh too if you are already a grower.

What do you think we need do as growers to alleviate theseĀ  challenges.
